During the writing season of 2015, NYC transplant drummer Jarrad James began jamming with various Nashville players, quickly finding chemistry with bassist Tyler Boone. While jamming and writing demos, Jarrad soon took over throne responsibilities for local rockers Hotel War and met vocalist Dan Fenton, who had just came off a European Tour with his band Feedback Revival.  After one jam session, it was clear that Dan’s vocals and songwriting chops would cauterize the project. Tyler soon returned to the fold, but this time with his roommate and collaborator Chase Arrocha in tow, who’s musicianship and constant search for tone was just the injection of adrenaline needed to complete the lineup.

The band recorded their first demo "Roll" at Starstruck Studios on music row in a midnight session, paying for the recording with a 40oz of malt liquor and a set of brass knuckles.

As fate continued to step in, the guys knew the Hawk was calling. After putting together an energetic, fast paced, melodic opener set, the band quickly found themselves opening for other local rock n roll powerhouses and friends The Tip, Sky Temple Blues and newcomers Denman.

The demo eventually made it into the hands of Nashville’s newest indie rock label Poison Tree Records and landed them a spot on the label’s first compilation album, “This Is Rock”. The success of the song on the album caught the attention of Poison Tree Records A&R Director, and after showcasing their live set, the label was sold and offered the band a recording contract.

Continuing on it’s mission to fuse melodic Nashville songwriting sensibilities with raw Rock and Roll power, Voltagehawk is set to record their first EP this summer.
